Get-away Weekend at Deep Creek Lake

WHEN:

Saturday, August 8, 2009
Arrival 11:00am

WHERE:

Deep Creek Lake (3 hours from Rockville MD)
Hosted by Kay Reglein

Come for a get-away weekend at Deep Creek Lake and be treated to a little history, a lot of good food, and, of course, a lot of good fun. Driving directions will come next week. If you want to carpool, please email connie@conniebinder.com

Our family has had the Deep Creek Lake cabin since the early 90's. We love being on the lake in the summer and (some of us) are on the ski slopes in the winter.

Garrett County facts:

  • Gets the most snowfall in Maryland;
  • Muddy Creek Falls is Maryland's tallest;
  • Swallow Falls is the coolest place to be on a hot August day;
  • Nothing beats sunset on Deep Creek Lake!

I've scheduled your Saturday from 11a.m. until 2:30 p.m. and then you can decide how you would like to spend your time: on the pontoon; sitting on the cabin's deck; snoozing in the loft; shopping in Oakland or around the Lake; walking from Swallow Falls to Muddy Creek Falls in sturdy shoes; or snacking on the goodies from the Farmer's Market. These same options are open for Sunday as well.

You may arrive at my cabin anytime after 6 a.m. on Friday (a day early), overnight as many nights as you wish into the next week. I have wireless internet access, limited cable channels, a wide variety of books and movies to peruse, gas grill, wine glasses for 8, beer mugs for 4, real dishes for 12, 1 bedroom, 1 open loft, beds for 4, futons for 6, a dozen pillows, a dozen bath/beach towels, a canoe, a Laser sailboat, a 20' pontoon, and parking for 7-8 cars.

Only 1 bathroom...

but it handled 14 for one Thanksgiving weekend!

What do you need to bring?

  • Long pants and fleece jacket for the cool evenings. It will be in the low 50's overnite and maybe, just maybe make it into the 80's during the day.
  • Swimsuit if you want to join me in the water.
  • Your pillow if you need it for a good night's rest
  • Your sense of humor-- this will be like a sleep-over.
