Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Mid- and South-Atlantic chapter of the American Society for Indexing.  Our goal is to unite indexers and to educate both the publishing community and general public about the value of indexes in information retrieval.  The chapter was founded in 1978. We typically have two educational meetings per year, one in the spring and one in the fall, with other informal gatherings interspersed. Elections are in June, and terms begin on July 1st.  Please see the Chapter Officers page for current officers and their contact details.  To become a member of our chapter, please see the ASI national website.

Indexing Names — January 19, 2019

Please join us at the Hilton Garden Inn in Old Town Alexandria, VA on January 19, 2019. Enid L. Zafran, one of our long-time members and a well-known indexer, will give a full-day workshop on the topic of Indexing Names.  No matter what field of indexing you specialize in, no matter how long you have been an indexer, names always present a challenge. Please visit the Chapter Meetings page for registration form and mailing details.
